LIVE INFO
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25, 26) LIVE experiences are opportunities for you to learn by doing. LIVE experiences also include servant event options that will allow many of you to serve the city of New Orleans through off-site events and through projects in the Convention Center. Each group attends the LIVE track on the following days: Group A: Tuesday + Group B: Monday + Group C: Sunday
LIVE: Saved to Serve
For the few days we are at the Gathering, we are part of the city of New Orleans. Plan to spend some time serving at the Convention Center and leave a lasting mark on the city while learning how to serve back home as well. Participating in the Mission of God can be as simple as one word: prayer. Join Leslie and Janet from the World Mission Prayer League as they offer time to look to God and listen to His voice. Expand your awareness of ways to pray through an experiential time of prayer.

LIVE Night Life: Prayer Vigil: Rally Against Violence
Watch the news from most major U.S. cities and you will find Christians standing up against violence in their neighborhoods. A dedicated group of New Orleans natives have done the same since their return to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina (August 29, 2005). These residents realized that many victims of violence in New Orleans residential neighborhoods are young men. This violence affects these young men and also their families and loved ones. Prayer vigils and rallies against violence are now common in New Orleans.
One of these prayer vigils will occur throughout the Gathering at Lafayette Square (from the dome travel about 6 blocks toward the Mississippi River on Poydras and turn right on St. Charles Ave. or Camp St.). Although Lafayette Square is a distance from the violence, take this opportunity to show support and care for those around us who deal with pain and grief. Each vigil will include voices of the mothers affected by violence, a time of silence for those murdered (one second per person will equal about 14 minutes of silence), songs, poetry, and prayer. |
